A CMOS Phase-Shift oscillator Based on the conduction of Heat
نویسندگان
چکیده
A CMOS phase-shift oscillator that uses a phase shift in the conduction of heat is proposed. The oscillator consists of an inverting ampli ̄er and a feedback thermal ̄lter that are integrated on a silicon chip. The thermal ̄lter consists of a polysilicon heater and a MOSFET thermosensor separated from each other by a SiO2 heat-conducting layer. 1 An input signal for the ̄lter travels from the heater to the thermosensor through the SiO2layer in the form of heat. The ̄lter accepts the output of the inverting ampli ̄er, produces a phase shift due to the heat conduction, and returns a 180 -shifted feedback signal to the ampli ̄er. The oscillator produces oscillation at a speci ̄c frequency determined by the dimensions of the ̄lter and the thermal conductivity and speci ̄c heat of Si and SiO2.

متن کاملMeshless analysis of casting process considering non-Fourier heat transfer
Casting is considered as a major manufacturing process. Thermal analysis of a solidifying medium is of great importance for appropriate design of casting processes. The conventional governing equation of a solidifying medium is based on the Fourier heat conduction law, which does not account for the phase-lag between the heat flux and the temperature gradient. In this paper, the concept of phas...
متن کاملThermoelastic Response of a Rotating Hollow Cylinder Based on Generalized Model with Higher Order Derivatives and Phase-Lags
Generalized thermoelastic models have been developed with the aim of eliminating the contradiction in the infinite velocity of heat propagation inherent in the classical dynamical coupled thermoelasticity theory. In these generalized models, the basic equations include thermal relaxation times and they are of hyperbolic type. Furthermore, Tzou established the dual-phase-lag heat conduction theo...
متن کاملThe Transient Behavior of LC and Ring Oscillators under External Frequency Injection
In this work, time domain analysis is used to solve Adler’s equation in order to obtain the required time, for an oscillator under external injection, reaching the steady-state condition. Mathematical approach has been applied to fully describe the transient of frequency acquisition in injection-locked LC and Ring oscillators considering their time-varying nature. Then, the analysis is verifie...
متن کاملA Phase Noise Reduction Technique in LC Cross-coupled Oscillators with Adjusting Transistors Operating Regions
In this paper, an intuitive analysis of a phase noise reduction technique is done, and then a modified structure is proposed to achieve higher phase noise reduction than the original one. This method reduces the impact of noise sources on the phase noise by decreasing closed-loop gain in zero-crossings points and moving this high closed-loop gain to the non-zero-crossings points. This reduction...
